1. Don't shower if Mason isn't locked IN my room.
Last week I got out of the shower and heard the toaster. Mason was the only other person home and he had been watching Mickey Mouse while sitting comfortably on my bed. He does this most mornings and is still there when I turn off the shower. I quickly stepped out of my room and found Mason sitting on the kitchen counter, slicing bread with a knife, and putting pieces in the toaster. The butter was ready to be spread. When I asked what he was doing out of the bedroom he simply replied, "I'm making some toast." He is now locked (with a deadbolt at the top of the door) in my room every morning until I'm done getting ready.
2. Always put a camera in the diaper bag for my friends to use.
Yesterday a friend watched Shawn and Mason while I took Jacob to get some work done at the dentist. Melanie had to take her daughter to dance class and took my boys along to play in the (kid friendly) waiting room. During a brief moment while Melanie was helping Koral put on her tap shoes, Mason found a fire extinguisher, figured out how to work it and sprayed dry powder all over the dance waiting room. Yeah. That's my boy. After the incident Mason was mostly concerned with his dirty shoes. Shawn was traumatized by the whole event. Next time I'll pack a camera and a vacuum in the diaper bag.
And I thought him setting off the alarm for the defibrillator at Disney World was exciting.

I was just about to get on you for not updating your blog more often...but I guess you have other things to occupy your time! Funny busy Mason!
That is too funny! I wish you could have had a picture. I can remember many times, that I have locked kids in with me to take a shower. With Audrey, I just make her join me.
OH NO! I hope that didn't happen while I was talking to Mel on the phone yesterday while she was there at the dance studio. She did seem kinda distracted ;-)
Go Mason! I mean uhh... bad Mason! How could you?!?! :D
That is too funny. He is a busy one. Your story about toast reminded me of Daniel this morning, making more downstairs while I showered. He poured about 1/2 cup of cinnamon sugar and used maybe 2 T. of butter on one piece. It was disgusting and such a mess. These curious little boys keep us on our toes!
I hadn't heard about the Disney World fun.
Look on the bright side... If he starts a fire using the toaster at least he knows how to work the fire extinguisher.
Wow! you have had a busy week!
When I was growing up, my brothers put the toaster in bed with them and plugged it in to keep them warm! It started a mattress fire. Good thing you are writing these things down....You'll have some wonderful stories to tell your grandkids someday:)
I've just realized there's no reason for me to keep going and have 6 children, my 3 have already taught me these lessons - (ha ha) ;)
