It's hard for me to understand how some people actually like cold weather. I'm not talking about a put-on-a-sweater kind of day. I'm talking about really cold days. You know...the kind where you have to layer long undies under your jeans and bundle up in four layers of shirts and coats topped off with gloves, scarves and hats. It makes me want to bring in the wood and stoke up the fireplace just thinking about it. When I get cold I stay cold. For a long time. Even when I'm inside drinking hot cocoa and wearing two pairs of wool socks. And I don't like it. At all.
I was glad that my recent weather poll revealed that most of my voters preferred hot to cold. But who are you people who would go for the cold? Please share your reasons, because I just don't get it. Is my body just wired to cool down better than it warms up?
I've had my share of both extremes and I'd definitely choose hot over cold any day. The day Ryan was born it was 114 degrees in Chandler, Arizona. And, yes, I would choose that over 15 degrees with a wind chill below zero. Brrrrr. Cold makes me cranky. I don't like bundling myself and all the kids up just to run an errand and then have to spend two hours when I get home trying to get warm again. It's just not worth it.
Thankfully I survived the '09 ice storm two weeks ago. And yes, I'm so happy that we're in the 70s this week. Let the countdown to summer begin!

I'll fess up. I voted cold. Honestly I do not enjoy being cold and would probably choose a tad bit too hot vs. really cold but since your poll only allowed us to choose one extreme or the other I voted cold. There is seriously only so much clothing you can remove after the age of 2...I'm well past that age...but you can always add more layers. I can not sleep when I'm hot, my hair gets frizzy, everyone is sweaty and stinky, my extremities swell, and there is no relief! With the cold you can soak in a nice warm tubby and snuggle up all together under a blankie--when it's hot there is no touching, ugh--a big cup of hot chocolate or mug of soup is so cozy. There is a lot I dislike about cold weather...bundling up kids to go to the store, etc. but I just HATE to be hot and sweaty. Plus I look a lot more cute in a sweater than a swimsuit!
I hear ya! I hate the cold! I tell Drew I am happy here in Virginia, but I do not like the cold. I am always cold. I promised him that if he would move me to Texas from Wyoming that I would never complain about the heat, and I didn't. I loved it! I think that if you go swimming, it should be hot outside and warm in the pool. I can't tell you how many times this past summer, I was freezing at the pool. Thankfully we have the jacuzzi all ready to go, so on cold days, I can enjoy that. I think a hot tub is so much more refreshing than a cold swimming pool.
I have to completely agree with Amy!! Though I PREFER colder weather to hotter, it's not like I want to sit in negative temperatures.
A lot of it has to do with clothing issues. I also prefer sweaters, jeans, turtlenecks and scarves, to swimsuits, shorts/capris, and the requisite bare legs!
I've never had to deal with having children in a cold climate where I have the challenge of bundling them up each day, so I'm sure that would change my opinion!
I also prefer the foods/beverages that accompany cold weather: soups and stews, hot cocoa and cider. I like snuggling under blankets and reading a good book. I think colder weather just is more in sync with my personality, I guess :-)
I choose cold too. I was born in
Montana and raised in Idaho so
I have spent all but the last
4 years of my life in a cold
weather climate. I love Winter!
I love sweaters,boots,scarves,
coats, hats and gloves. I love
Snow and snowmen and snow-angels.
I love Sledding and snow skiing.
I love white snow-capped mountains.
I love Hot Cocoa, cider, roasting
marshmallows on an open fire and
snuggling to keep warm. It took
me a while to get used to the
117 degree summers of Arizona.
I learned to appreciate it and enjoyed it too, but if you gave
me a choice I would run back to
Idaho in a heartbeat. I just love
that place and winters there.
I chose cold :D I love layering clothing and that's kind of hard to do when it's hot. Plus I love apple cider.
I used to like cold when I was a Utah girl....but now I've been a Texas girl for 13 years and have become thin-skinned. Now I absoultely like warm weather and find myself getting cold easily ;)
Oh, I love warm weather! I would love to live somewhere warmer...I hate the cold! If only Christian didn't work for a Utah only organization!
