I love how simple life can be when you're turning four.
Shawn's only requests for his party on Monday were balloons and vanilla cupcakes with vanilla frosting. When he got home from lunch with Dad and saw everything set up he exclaimed, "It's exactly as I wanted it!"

Happy Day to Shawn! I love that little kids have such simple expectations and are so easily pleased with whatever effort you put forth. Do your kids always have a Dad lunch date on their birthdays? Fun tradition.
Yes, the kids always get a special Daddy lunch date on (or somewhere around...) their birthdays. It's something my Dad did with each of us every year and was always a highlight of the birthday week.

And Shawn- what a stud! I love his personality. And he's so stinkin' cute to boot! When I told Richard it was Shawn's fourth birthday he said- "you mean Jacob? Isn't Shawn a baby? Oh wait, there's Mason too." Time flies- especially when we go so long without seeing you guys!
That is so sweet! Some children are so happy with simple things. What a joy they are. The cupcakes look yummy too.
