I Tried.

I woke up this morning thinking that I needed to start out the day doing something fun with Mason. He was sick last week and just hasn't been himself lately, so I decided that a little Groundhog Day project with mom this morning would be the perfect pick-me-up for both of us. Some days we just get too busy being busy and I don't take time to have enough fun with my little stay-home-friend. I saw this cute craft idea online and, surprisingly, had all the supplies on hand. I did the cutting, and Mason helped with the gluing. He loved it. After playing with Mr. Groundhog for 5 minutes, Mason informed me that "the groundhog isn't happy, so it's not a happy Groundhog Day." Mason then let me know that he wasn't happy either and proceeded to have a grumpy, difficult, stubborn morning, which has become the norm around her. I mopped the floor.

Later this afternoon I found Mason sound asleep on my bed, Mr. Groundhog snuggled up next to him, complete with a few Lego Guys hidden down in the grass. I'm hoping that the next six weeks brings a much happier three-year-old to our house.

It sounds like you spend your days just like me! Cannot wait to see if our boys still look alike, being that they act alike!

Good try, Mom. :) Our mornings sound eerily similar -- right down to the grumpy, difficult, stubborn child. I think the groundhog is darling -- Mason, too.

This is a story Mason will tell at his wedding or on his mission to thank you for being so terrific, even when he didn't appreciate it.

I wish you were my mother. If you made me this groundhog, I promise I wouldn't be grumpy.

You're so creative Julie. What a good, fun mom! Cute Mason...I'm sorry he hasn't been feeling well...that's the worst! Hope it gets better!

Cute idea! Much better than mine: I made No Bake Cookies (haven't made or tasted one since roughly 1985) because they were the only item of food that even remotely called to mind the image of a groundhog. This should have, of course, made me pause. Because instead of resembling a groundhog, they resembled something a groundhog may have left in my yard. (Was that gross and too descriptive? Sorry.)

Ditto on the grumpy three year old. Actually Porter isn't really grumpy, he just shrieks - A LOT!! I'm scrapping my class - no way to finish - now I have time to do fun crafts/sewing with you again. I can't wait.
