Two weeks ago I jump-started my spring break with a quick trip to Houston to spend time with two of my sisters. Armed with a turkey sandwich and my latest book club book I headed to the airport just before lunch. As I sat in the airport waiting to board the plane, I realized this was the first time I've been on a plane without a traveling companion since I got married, almost 16 years ago. It was a weird feeling. I enjoyed seeing Amy's family for a few minutes before Jill, Amy and I headed to The Woodlands for the night.
The rain made the evening just a bit unpleasant, but the three of us had a great time together. After checking into our hotel we had dinner at The Cheesecake Factory and then hit The Woodlands Mall for some book store browsing, window shopping and a stop to try out a Sleep Number bed. Back at the hotel we enjoyed a nice soak in the hot tub and then chowed down on the cheesecakes we had gotten to go - White Chocolate Raspberry Truffle, Caramel Pecan Turtle and Dutch Apple Caramel Streusel. Yum! It was such a fun evening out with the girls. (We missed you Margo!)
Saturday we got up and enjoyed a great breakfast buffet at the hotel and then had a fun day together at a Time Out for Women event. Before Amy and Jill dropped me off at the airport to fly back home we stopped at Smashburger in Houston for a quick bite to eat. This was Erik's first project and it was fun to see 'his' restaurant and try a fabulous smashburger and smashfries - tossed with olive oil, rosemary and garlic. This was definitely a weekend of too much good food!
Thanks for such a great weekend girls!!

What a super fun getaway! Good for you guys! I know how you feel about flying alone -- it's so rare that I always feel like I'm missing something.
How fun to be with your sisters and have a get away. We were in Houston as a family and I had noticed the Time Out day, but couldn't make it happen.
It sounds like a treat to be by yourself!
What fun! A quick break from reality is always so nice. Now that you mention it, I don't think I've flown alone for 8 years now. That WOULD be strange. . . . hmmmmm. . .
How fun for you!! It was a well deserved break for a very dedicated Mother.
16 years...hmmm. I don't think I've flown with someone since I was 16...Oh wait, I guess I did when we went to Africa!!!
The food was so good! That smash burger looks so good right now...I didn't really eat dinner.
Sister get-a-ways are the best. Isn't it weird to think of what to do on an airplane alone?
Wish I could have made it!! Not only to hang out with you guys, but that cheesecake really sounds so good!! (my one and only craving -wierd, b/c I'm usually not a cheesecake person). Glad you all had fun! By the way- I think we're going to plan on coming to DC when you guys are there this summer- Braves game sold Kevin!
