The annual carving-of-pumpkins is met with wide range of attitudes at our house:
Curiosity
Determination
Tolerance
Disgust
Ingenuity
I don't love the whole process, but I did my part to cut and scoop. Thankfully I was the only one who ended up needing an band-aid.
(Yes, those little safety carving tools work nicely... but we only had so many to share, so I used a knife. Lesson learned.)
I just remind myself it's only once a year...
And isn't this nice row of Jack-o-Lanterns out front worth it?

Great pictures of the carving process! I love Erik's expression in the "tolerance" one. And I love the row of Jacks. . . but where's Amanda's white one? I want to see how that turned out. Gotta love the LA jack-o-lantern.
Cute jack-o-lanterns. I loved your creative angle with the emotions involved. I, too, would love to see Amanda's white pumpkin.
Cute pumpkins and cute kids! Miss you guys!
