A few reasons why I love this great state:
* The state tree is the pecan. This is definitely a more superior nut than the walnut.
* Texas kids pledge our state flag each morning at school. "We pledge allegiance to thee, Texas..."
* Brisket and Bluebonnets.
* We have the coolest state flag. I don't think I've ever seen swimwear, dress shirts or home decor made out of flags from the other forty-nine.
This past weekend we celebrated the eight-year-anniversary of our move back to Texas. I've lived in Utah, Oregon, Nevada, West Virginia, Arizona and California and figured it was my lot in life to just keep on moving. So many states, so little time. After all, my first four children were all born in different states. But here we still are. Two more native Texans have joined our family and I am oh-so-happy that we're here. It's home. It think it's my destiny to be a Texan.

Me too!! I'm pretty confident we're here for the long haul and that is fine by me. I'm not a bumper sticker girl, but if I was, I think I would have to have the one that says something like, "I'm not a native Texan, but I got here as fast as I could."
Oh, you Texas people! :) Haven't you seen me wearing my Idaho flag bathrobe? Ha ha. I think Texas pride is amazing and something every state should (and secretly does) envy. If we ever have to pick up and leave Idaho, we'd head straight to Texas. Honest Engine. Happy Eight years of Texas to you! (And Happy Birthday Erik!!)
GO TEXAS!!! We love it too! (Okay, so not hurricane season) It's good to get back to my birth state :-)
Personally, I like Texas, but I think the state itself is terribly conceited.
Firstly, I think it's silly that our state flag is the only one that gets to fly alongside the U.S. one at an equal height just because it USED to be a country.
It's not anymore, now is it?
And I don't exactly get WHY we have to say the Texas state pledge. That's silly.
Don't get me wrong though. Cool flag, and I love the pecans. And barbeque. Mmm...
I love living where I do, but Texas just loves itself... a lot.
I just hope I don't pick up an accent. : /
I love Texas! I miss Texas!! I have Texas plates, a Texas cutting board... The missionaries here laugh at all my Texas stuff, I have to explain that Texans are just that prideful. He he! :-)
