Karate Anyone?
I recently asked one of my children to write an essay on why it's not appropriate to physically hurt someone. This really is a nice form of punishment and I've saved several of these writings throughout the years. Maybe someday they'll make a nice book. This particular paper was typed and included not only some nice illustrations, but good examples of how hurting someone can damage the victim both physically and emotionally. My favorite line was the concluding statement, "People should not hit, slap, punch, or kick each other because it is not nice to do to each other when not at karate, wrestling, or boxing practice with adult supervision." I found this particularly humorous since none of my children have ever (to my knowledge) attended such activities. Anyone know of a good summer kickboxing class for kids?

Make them write an essay as punishment. Check. (Taking mental note of this awesome idea.)
Too funny. HiYa!
Love the essay writing idea!! Definitely using that in the future! This is hilarious- I'm guessing Jacob. . . .
That is funny! Love that idea. It sounds like great punishment - I mean teaching - for Daniel. He's always using his karate moves on his sisters. Makes them nutty!
Oh I love it!! I see essays in our future. One son is writing a note to his teacher tonight explaining how he's going to start following directions more:)
