White Chicken Chili
6 cans great northern beans (do not drain)
2 cans chicken broth (4 C.)
2 onions, chopped
1 1/2 t. minced garlic
4 C. cooked, cubed chicken (grilled chicken is fabulous in this, but you can use any cooked, or canned chicken)
24 oz. sour cream (any variety - fat free works well)
2 t. cumin
2 small cans chopped green chilis
1 1/2 t. oregano
1/4 t. cayenne pepper (I usually just put in a couple drops of tabasco sauce)
1 - 2 t. salt
1/2 t. white pepper (I never have this, and just use a bit of fresh ground pepper)
This recipe can be halved and it freezes well. If you make the full recipe you'll need a HUGE pot. I've also made this by boiling the beans, etc. on the stove and then adding everything to the crock pot and heating for a couple hours in there. Makes a great "busy day" meal.

Hey Julie...looks like another recipe we'll be trying!! I have to ask, though, do "great northern beans" go by another name (like pinto, black, kidney) or can I find them easily enough at the grocery store?
These are a certain type of white bean - it'll be clearly marked on the can. You can find them at any store, in the bean isle.
Sounds yummy! I love soups in the winter.
fabulous, i always love trying all the recipes you post on here! it sounds great!
I love soup. I will definitely be trying this!
Everyone! Listen to me! You MUST try this soup!!!! Julie made this for my family last night and it was WONDERFUL!!!!! My husband (who is picky, picky, picky and does not eat beans) ate two huge bowls of this and kept commenting on how wonderful it was, to the point that it started to bug me and I was feeling insecure that he was longing for Julie E's food too much....:)
Go and make this!!!
Julie, you ROCK!
De-lish! We just finished dinner...I halved the recipe and REALLY wish I hadn't...we don't have any leftovers (but I'm really full...I shouldn't have had seconds, but it was yummy). Thanks for a winner...this will be making it into my dinner calendar rotation for sure!
Ditto, jdhess71! Julie made this for our family, too. (I have a feeling she makes dinner for a lot of families!) It was DELICIOUS, and my husband acted the same way. I should've counted the # of times he raved about it while we were eating. In fact, wanting this recipe is what brought me to discover this blog, so thanks MUCH, Julie!
