So, I stole a
fabulous idea from my sister-in-law and created CHORE STICKS for my children this summer. Hers are cuter than mine so look at what she created. We rotate the daily kitchen jobs but each child picks one or two sticks a day for the additional assignments - vacuum rooms, dusting, windows, clean microwave. OK, so we've only done this for a week, but it's worked wonderfully. None of the jobs take more than 5 - 10 minutes and that's it. Ingenious.
Also, picking sticks makes a great punishment for later in the day.

Really cute...I've just been doing a "job jar". Every day they do their regular chores but I pick one day a week as "big cleaning" day and I write down all the things I want done on slips of paper for the jar...but I think I want to switch to sticks...way cuter, and more durable so I don't have to make new ones every week. I'm always up for trying a new system...maybe one day I'll find one that works for the long haul!
I love this idea! I'm gonna start right away!
